City Suites Lyon Gerland Hotel is located in the Gerland area of Lyon, close to the stadium and 500 metres from the city centre. It's surrounded by an array of attractions. Guests can visit the Museum des Beaux Arts three kilometres away, or the Cathedral de Fouviere five kilometres away.
Lyon is physically the second biggest city in France, a result of its uncontrolled urban sprawl. Viewed at high speed from the Autoroute du Soleil, the impression it gives is of a major confluence of rivers and roads, around which only petrochemical industries thrive.
In fact, from the sixteenth century right up until the postwar dominance of metalworks and chemicals, silk was the city's main industry, generating the wealth which left behind a multitude of Renaissance buildings.
The hotel lies three kilometres from the train station, Gare de Lyon Perrache and is 25 kilometres from Lyon Saint-Exupery Airport. Trains run from the airport's TGV station and serve many French destinations.
A taxi rank is located in front of Terminal 1, level 1. A taxi desk is also located on level 1 in the central hall. Guests can take the shuttle to Lyon Part Dieu station then the Underground, line B to Stade de Gerland and exit at the 4th stop, Place Jean Jaures. |
